The right paper turns a template into something people keep. Here’s how to choose without getting lost in jargon.

Weight (gsm)

Business cards: 350–400gsm feels substantial. Lighter stock can feel temporary — fine for flyers, less ideal for cards you hand to premium clients.

Inserts and flat cards: 300gsm is a sweet spot — thick enough to feel quality, thin enough to tuck in parcels economically.

Coated vs uncoated

Uncoated absorbs ink for a softer, editorial look — perfect for calm, neutral branding.

Coated pops colour and photographs — use if your art is high-contrast or photographic.

Finishes

Matte laminate softens glare. Soft-touch adds a tactile premium. Foil and emboss are beautiful but busy — use sparingly if your brand is minimal.
