How it works
It all happens through , a private portal set up just for your project. There’s nothing to download, no accounts to set up, and no one visiting your home.
Send over some photos from your phone, or walk me round with a quick video if that’s easier. I’ll ask for rough measurements, along with some honest answers about how you actually use the room day to day. It takes about 20 minutes.
Within a week, I’ll add a concept board to , covering the direction, the colours, and the layout. Have a look through it and let me know what’s working for you and what isn’t.
You’ll receive the final design, a layout drawn to scale, and a list of recommended pieces with direct links for furniture, decor and planting, all kept to your budget and sourced ethically where it matters. From there, the room is yours to bring together.
That’s the whole process. You send things across, I write back, and you put it together in your own way. Three rounds of changes are included, and I handle every project personally, wherever you are in the UK.

Sustainability at its heart
The first thing I look at is what you’ve already got, not what’s missing. As an interior designer, I can usually see potential in a piece or a layout that might otherwise be overlooked or replaced too soon. Most rooms need rearranging rather than a full replacement, and most gardens need editing rather than starting from zero. Getting this right takes a bit of judgement: knowing which pieces are earning their place, which just need repositioning, and which genuinely aren’t working. That’s where the real savings are made, long before anything new is bought.
When something new is genuinely needed, I don’t just point you towards anything that looks the part. Every recommendation is checked against proper standards: FSC-certified timber, OEKO-TEX fabrics, and peat-free planting, all at the time your list is put together. Sourcing decent, well-made pieces takes time and know-how, especially at the mid-market price points most of us are working with. I do that groundwork so you don’t have to wade through it yourself.
I won’t recommend ripping out a perfectly good room or garden for the sake of change. Good design should hold up past this year’s colour or this season’s must-have, and that’s a large part of what shapes my choices. I favour UK makers and growers to cut down on the distance things travel, and every piece is chosen with an eye to how it’ll feel in ten years, not just how it photographs today.

A new colour scheme for any single room.

A full colour scheme worked around the light your room actually gets, which is what decides whether a colour looks right once it’s on the wall. Nothing needs moving or replacing, and the room will still feel completely different.
Any room: bedroom, living or dining.
£495per room
One room designed in full, from your photos through to a scheme you can put together at your own pace. Bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and home offices all count. If you’re doing the whole house, it’s this, with each additional room at £375.
Pair it with a Space Edit (£95) or a Feng Shui reading (£95).
Book the RoomGarden, courtyard, balcony or rooftop, with plant styling.

A garden, courtyard, balcony or rooftop, planned around the light and soil you’ve actually got rather than the ones you might wish for. Those two things decide whether planting thrives or struggles, so they shape every choice I make. Plant styling for the pots and any indoor greenery is included.
A studio, salon, treatment room or small shop, designed with the same care as a home but worked around what a space people spend all day in genuinely needs. Priced per project, as no two are ever the same.

I’m Rachel, and Sunday Ambience is my online design studio. I named it after the way a home feels on a slow Sunday morning: unhurried, soft, and completely yours. That feeling is the brief for every room and garden I take on.
A quick word on the look, so you know if we’ll get on. Most of what I design falls into two moods, and plenty of homes borrow from both. The first is cool and calm: pale wood, soft colours, natural materials like linen and clay, and plenty of light. That’s the Scandi and Japandi world, along with coastal Scandi, Danish hygge, contemporary minimalism and the gentle imperfection of wabi-sabi. The second is warmer and earthier, all terracotta, plaster and sun-baked tones: modern Mediterranean, modern Spanish and modern Middle Eastern. Sitting between the two are modern farmhouse, organic modern and modern cottagecore, softer and more homely. Cosy whichever way we lean, but never cluttered or showroom-perfect.
Outside, I lean towards relaxed and informal rather than stiff and over-clipped: naturalistic and new-perennial planting, a proper cottage tangle, or a kitchen garden you can actually pick from. Gravel and Mediterranean planting for hot, dry spots. Japanese-inspired and minimalist schemes where calm matters most. Woodland and shade planting, coastal gardens, and wildlife-friendly balconies, containers and rooftops for the small or exposed spaces.
I work from Cardiff, for homes anywhere in the UK. The approach stays the same whatever the project: start with what you already own, buy less, and choose pieces that will still earn their place in ten years. Natural materials wherever they suit the room, and sustainable sourcing as a matter of course rather than a selling point. Good design shouldn’t cost the earth, in either sense.
Every enquiry, concept and design comes from me personally. There’s no handing you over to someone else, no design factory, and nothing generated by a machine, just one designer looking properly at your room and your garden. I’d rather work closely with a handful of homes I can genuinely help than take on everything that comes in, so getting in touch is simply a chance for us to see whether we’re a good fit.
Questions
It all happens in writing, through , a private portal set up for your project. You upload photographs or a video walk-through, your measurements and a short style questionnaire. I design your space and send the boards, layout and shopping list back to you there. You then order what you like, when you like, and put the room together at your own pace. There are no calls to join and no meetings to arrange.
Yes, and it often tells me more than photographs can. A slow walk around the room or garden on your phone shows me the light, the awkward corners, and how you actually move through the space, which is difficult to read from stills alone. Talk over it if you like. Just add it to with your measurements.
Not at all. I work with homes anywhere in the UK. I design from Cardiff, and everything you receive from me is digital.
That’s exactly what the concept stage is for. It comes first precisely so you can change direction before any of the detail is done, when saying so costs you nothing. You tell me what to keep and what to change, and three rounds of revisions are included every time. It isn’t finished until it feels like yours.
No, and that’s deliberate. Your list is clickable and kept within budget, whether it’s a sofa or a rosemary bush, but every purchase stays yours. That way you can spread the cost over time, plant across a season, or find your own pieces along the way.
No. Rented homes, small rooms, north-facing balconies and awkward corners are most of what I do, and they are often the projects where careful design makes the biggest difference. If you rent, renter-friendly is built into the brief from the start: nothing structural, landlord-safe finishes, and containers rather than borders.
The Colour Direction arrives within five working days. The larger designs, the Room Ambience and Garden Sanctuary, usually take two to three weeks from the point your questionnaire, photographs and measurements are all in.
