Designed for renting from the start
When you tell us you rent, it shapes the whole brief rather than arriving as an afterthought: nothing structural, finishes that keep your deposit safe, and containers in place of borders. The design is made to be lived in now and packed up later.
Where a rented room changes most
A home is made far more by what you put in it than by what is fixed to it. In a rented room, the design leans on the things that move:
- Textiles: a generous rug, linen curtains and cushions, to warm a room without touching the floor or walls
- Lighting: floor and table lamps with warm bulbs, in place of the single light in the ceiling
- Freestanding furniture and storage, chosen to suit your next home as well as this one
- Plants in pots, indoors and out, so the greenery comes with you
- Paint only where your landlord has agreed, in a colour you would be glad to live with
Rented balconies, courtyards and gardens
A balcony, courtyard or rented garden counts as a room in any of our packages. The planting is designed for containers, peat-free and UK-grown first, so it suits a rented home and comes with you when you go. See our garden design.
Which package suits a rented home
Room Ambience is often the natural fit: one room, indoors or outdoors, designed entirely in writing. Signature Interior Design suits a rented home just as well when you would like more depth and to see the finished room in photorealistic visuals first. Moving soon? A Space Edit helps you decide what is worth carrying.
