A room works better once it holds less
Sometimes a room doesn’t need designing so much as editing. Before anything new is bought, this is a calm, structured clear-out of what’s already there, so the pieces you love have room to breathe and the room starts to feel like yours again.
Create Your Ambience
Concept visual
It works the way I always do, from your photographs and a few questions rather than a visit. You get a plan for going through the room one category at a time, clothes, books, papers, the drawer that has quietly become a graveyard, so the whole job feels finite rather than endless.
For each item there’s one question, does it earn its place here, and three honest answers: keep it, rehome it to someone who will use it, or let it go. Whatever stays gets a storage plan and a proper place to live, so the room doesn’t fill straight back up a fortnight later.
It pairs well with a Room Ambience design, the edit first and the scheme after, and it stands perfectly well on its own when all a room needs is less in it.
Good for
- A room you can no longer see for the things in it
- A move coming up, and boxes you would rather not carry
- The clear-out that has to happen before any redesign
How it works
A reading, not a rebuild.
Share the space
Photographs of the room and inside the cupboards, and a few honest words about what is overwhelming and what you are hanging on to. Whenever suits you.
Get your edit plan
Within a week, a room-by-room system in : the order to work in, a keep, rehome or let-go question for each category, and a storage plan for what stays.
Work through it
You do it at your own pace, one category at a time, with the plan beside you. Nothing to buy unless the storage genuinely needs it.
Everything happens in writing, through , wherever you are in the UK. No calls to join and no meetings to arrange. Three rounds of changes are included, and every enquiry, concept and list comes from me, personally.
