Your privacy, in plain English.

Who you’re writing to

Sunday Ambience is the online design studio of Rachel Hannah, working from Cardiff, United Kingdom. Rachel handles every enquiry herself, so your details are read by her rather than passed around a team.

What the studio collects, and only when you send it

Reading this site collects nothing at all unless you agree to it. The site can use Google Analytics to count visits, but only if you say yes when asked, and if you haven’t said yes then nothing loads and no cookie is set. The short version is in the cookie details. Analytics counts pages, not people: it’s never told your name or your email address. If you said yes and want to undo it, clear this site’s data in your browser settings and the choice is forgotten, along with the cookie. You’ll be asked again next time, and you can say no then.

When you fill in the enquiry form, the studio receives exactly what you typed:

• Your name and email address.
• Which space you would like designed, and the package you have in mind.
• Whatever you wrote in the message box.

If you go on to begin a design, you’ll also send photographs, a video if you choose to make one, measurements and your answers to the style quiz, through The Sunday Desk?. Those are used to design your space and for nothing else.

The tools behind the scenes

Your design is Rachel’s work from start to finish. Like most studios, she uses a few digital tools along the way, some of them AI, for things like tidying up paperwork and preparing visuals. They only ever see what the work needs, never your card or bank details, and Rachel reads and approves everything before it reaches you. Any image made with AI is labelled.

How your enquiry reaches Rachel

Your enquiry is delivered straight to Rachel as a private message, carried by a secure third-party messaging service, so that she sees it wherever she is and can reply the same working day. That service carries the message and is the only other company involved in it. Your enquiry isn’t stored in a database on this website, it isn’t shared with anyone else, and it’s used for nothing but replying to you.

If you would like to know exactly which service that is, ask Rachel and she will tell you plainly. Everything after that first reply happens in The Sunday Desk?: your photographs, your video, your measurements, your design and your payment for it.

Why this is allowed, in the language of the law

Under UK data protection law, the basis for handling your enquiry is that you asked the studio to reply to you, which is the first step of a possible contract between you. If you become a client, the basis is that contract. There’s no marketing basis here, because there is no marketing.

How long your details are kept

Enquiries that don’t turn into work are kept while the conversation is live, and deleted once it has clearly finished. Client work is kept while the design is being made, and for as long afterwards as you might reasonably come back with a question about it. If you would like it gone sooner, say so and it will be.

What never happens to your details

• It’s never sold, and never rented.
• It’s never joined up with your visit statistics, which are counted separately and anonymously.
• It’s never handed to advertisers.
• You’re never added to a mailing list you didn’t ask to join.
• Your photographs are never published anywhere without asking you first.

What you can ask for, whenever you like

You have the right to see what the studio holds about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to it being held at all. Reply to any message from Rachel, or write to the studio through the contact form, and it will be done without fuss.

If you’re ever unhappy with how your details have been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk. Rachel would rather you told her first, so she can put it right.
