Here are the terms, without the legalese.

First, who you’re dealing with

Sunday Ambience Interiors, also known as Sunday Ambience, is the trading name of Rachel Hannah Gee, a sole trader based in Cardiff, United Kingdom. Every design is directed and approved by Rachel.

What you’re actually buying

You’re buying a design, not a build. What arrives is a set of digital documents: a concept board, a final design board, a layout drawn to scale, and a clickable list of pieces and planting kept to the figure you set. You then order what you like, at your own pace, and put the space together yourself or with your own trades.

What it costs, and how you pay

The price of each package is shown on the packages page and is fixed before anything begins. It’s agreed with you first, and it doesn’t move afterwards unless you ask for something outside what you originally bought, in which case Rachel tells you the cost before doing it, not after.

Nothing is taken until you have chosen a package and told Rachel you’re happy to begin. An enquiry costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

Payment is made through The Sunday Desk?, which is also where your design and every message about it lives. There’s nothing to pay anywhere else, and Rachel will never ask you for card details by email or message. Buying the furniture and planting on your list is separate, stays with you, and happens directly with the retailers.

The founding client offer

Signature Interior Design is £995, in place of the standard £1,495, for the first five clients to book it. The offer covers one room and includes everything in the package. In return, the studio asks for your honest feedback, whatever it may be, and, if you are happy, permission to share your finished design. Any feedback published from a founding client will say that it came from one. The offer ends when the fifth place is taken.

How long your design takes

• Room Ambience takes two to three weeks.
• Signature Interior Design takes three to four weeks.
• If you add a second or third room, or book Whole Home Virtual Design, the turnaround is agreed at booking, depending on the number of rooms.

Those run from the point your questionnaire, photographs or video and measurements are all in. If something is missing, the clock starts when it lands.

If you’d like something changed

Room Ambience includes three rounds of changes, Signature Interior Design four, and Whole Home Virtual Design four per room. The concept stage exists so that you can change direction before the detail is done, and saying you don’t like it is a normal and expected part of the process rather than a problem.

A few things that aren’t included

• Rachel doesn’t buy anything on your behalf. Your list is clickable and costed, and every purchase is yours to make.
• Prices, stock and delivery on that list belong to the retailers, not to the studio. They change, and things sell out. Rachel will suggest an alternative if something has gone.
• There are no home visits. Room Ambience runs entirely in writing, with no calls and no meetings. Signature Interior Design includes one 60-minute live concept presentation call. Whole Home Virtual Design includes a 60-minute live vision call at the start and a 60-minute live concept presentation call. Each call follows a set agenda, shared beforehand, and is recorded and sent to you afterwards.
• Nothing structural, and no project management. The studio doesn’t employ builders, doesn’t supervise them, and can’t be responsible for their work.

To be specific about the structural point, because it matters. If reaching the design goal in your brief would need structural change, taking out a wall, moving a window, repositioning a door, that requires a detailed analysis by a structural engineer, on site. That is outside what this studio can help with, and Rachel will tell you so rather than design around something that cannot be built.

Where no structural change is needed, the work begins with an evaluation of what your space already has: its proportions, light, sightlines and existing features. The design then works towards the goal in your brief from there, which often means altering or improving how those existing features read, using colour, lighting, layout, materials, scale and pattern, rather than moving anything at all.

What happens to your photographs and video

When you send photographs or a video of your space, you’re confirming that they’re yours to send. They’re used to design your space and nothing else, and nothing of yours appears in the portfolio, the journal or anywhere else unless you have said yes to that first, separately. What happens to them is set out in the privacy notice.

What you can do with your design

The design is made for your space, and it’s yours to build, keep and enjoy for as long as you like. What it isn’t is stock to pass on: please don’t resell it, publish it as your own, or hand it to another studio to work from.

A word about your plants

Planting is planned for the light, the soil and the exposure your space actually has, which is the single biggest thing that decides whether a plant thrives. What no designer can promise is that a living thing will live. Weather, watering, pets, slugs and luck all get a say. Your plan will tell you honestly which choices forgive neglect and which won’t.

If you change your mind

Because everything here is bought at a distance, UK consumer law gives you 14 days from the day you agree to go ahead to cancel, without giving a reason. Say so and you get your money back.

There’s one thing worth understanding. If you ask Rachel to begin straight away, inside those 14 days, you’re asking her to start work that only exists because of you. If you then cancel part way through, you pay for the part already done. Once the design has been finished and delivered to you within those 14 days at your request, the right to cancel has been used up, because the thing you bought has been made and handed over.

If you would rather keep the full 14 days, just say, and Rachel will start on day 15. Nobody will push you.

If something isn’t right

Tell Rachel. UK consumer law says a service must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and if it hasn’t been, she will put it right. Most things that feel wrong are a revision rather than a dispute, and three of those are included before the conversation even needs to be had.

The law these terms come under

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with anything that can’t be settled between you. None of this takes away the statutory rights you have as a consumer.

Still have a question?

Most of what people actually want to know is answered on the questions page. Anything else, write to Rachel through the contact form and she will answer it herself.
