The look, outdoors

Luxe rustic, taken outside

The same thinking as indoors: honest, matt materials, rustic warmth, generous empty space, and fewer but better pieces. Nothing shiny, glossy or flashy.

  • Weathered timber

Oak and teak that silver with age, in benches, pergolas and slatted screens.

  • Stone and gravel

Pale paving, warm stone and gravel underfoot, laid simply and left matt.

  • Terracotta and limewash

Aged pots of olive, fig and lavender against soft, chalky walls.

  • Relaxed planting

Generous drifts of grasses, perennials and climbers, held by a clean frame so it reads relaxed instead of overgrown.

  • Linen, rattan and lantern light

Cream cushions, woven seats and a warm, low glow once the sun has gone.

  • Room to breathe

Space left empty on purpose, so the few good pieces can be seen.

Concept visual

A sun-baked gravel garden

For the plot that bakes all afternoon. Planting chosen to enjoy the heat, and very little watering once it has settled.

Concept visual of an outdoor dining terrace under an oak pergola at dusk, with wisteria overhead, festoon lights, a long table with linen cushions, lavender beds and potted olives

Concept visual

Supper under the pergola

An oak pergola gives the table a roof and the wisteria something to climb, with lavender either side.

Borders you can sit inside

The bench sits within the planting, so you are surrounded by it instead of looking at it from a distance.

Gardens

A garden is a room with a different ceiling. The layout comes out of the light and soil you actually have, and the planting comes out of the layout.

Courtyards & terraces

Four walls can feel like a box or a room, and the difference is what you grow up them. Climbers soften the hard edges, and the seating faces the last of the sun.

Rooftops & balconies

Wind, a weight limit, and full sun all day or none at all. The plan is built around those limits, with everything in pots, so it suits a rented home and comes with you.

Garden design packages

An outdoor space counts as a room

A garden, courtyard, rooftop or balcony is booked just like a room indoors, in any of our packages. Each has a fixed price agreed before anything starts.

What you receive

A complete garden design, ready to bring to life

  • A concept board, so you can see the direction before any detail is settled
  • Photorealistic visuals of your finished garden, in Signature and Whole Home
  • A layout drawn to scale
  • A colour, finishes and lighting plan
  • A planting list, peat-free and UK-grown first
  • A clickable shopping list, sourced ethically where it matters

It is a design, not a build. From there, the garden is yours to bring to life, at your own pace.

Outside as well as in, our approach remains the same: what you already have comes first, most gardens are better served by careful editing than by starting again, and the studio favours UK makers and growers. More on how the studio keeps it kind.
